The Sort By drop-down option on the search results gives you the ability to sort your results. Selecting an option from the drop-down list will re-index your search results immediately.
The following options are available:
Relevance: Set as the default, the results are listed by exact matches, followed by some words used in your search term, and then subjects from the MARC Record. For example, if you performed a search on Butterfly, you may find Butterfly swimming, followed by The world of butterflies, and then California Blue.
Newly Added: Results are listed according to the date the item was added to your library's database. Any news feeds or digital collections (CONTENTdm) will be found at the bottom of the list.
Publication Date: Results of when the item was published are listed from newest to oldest dates.
Borrower Rating: Results that contain a borrower rating are listed from highest rating to lowest rating and display below the book jacket. A rating with five yellow stars is the maximum rating possible. The titles without yellow stars have not been rated at this time and will display after the lowest rating.
Note: Depending on your library's setup, Borrower Rating may not be in the Sort By drop-down list.
Author: Results of the author's last name are listed in alpha order. For example, Adler, Adoff, Becca.
Title: Results are listed in alpha order. Any titles starting with a number are listed first. Titles beginning with The are not considered. For example, The road from home can be found listed with the letter "r" for road and not "t" for the.
