Do you need assistance with locating an item on the bookshelf? The Map button is here to help! First of all, check to make sure your item is available. For more information on this topic, see Check Item Availability.
Where is the Map button found? The Map button can be found at the following locations: Titles search page, Browse Genre page, Details page, and Display Case. Depending on your library's setup, if the Display Case or Browse Genre is not shown, you will not be able to use the Map button from those particular options.
Titles search page: After you perform a search, in the individual search results, the Map button is shown at the bottom of the result, as shown in the example below.

Browse Genre page: Place your mouse over a book jacket. The Map button is shown in the lower-right corner of the pop-up. Refer to the example below.

Details page: Whenever you click a book jacket, you are redirected to the Details page. The Map button is located to the right of the availability status on the Description tab and Copies tab, as shown in the examples below.

Display Case: Place your mouse over a book jacket. The Map button is shown in the lower-right corner of the pop-up. Refer to the example below.

After clicking the Map button, an item detail box displays, providing location and holdings information. Determine the location as to where you would like to find your item. Refer to the example below, which shows Smith Public and North Branch as choices for locations.

After you have made your location selection, a diagram of the library floor map appears, displaying a pulsating shape overlaying the diagram. The shape indicates the location of your item. An example of a library floor might look something like below.

Determine your current location on the map and where your item's located, then click the Close button located at the top. Tip! Writing down the collection and call number will also help in locating the item. This information is located wherever you see the Map button. For example, on the Copies tab, the collection and call number can be found beneath the library's name, as shown below.

Your item will be located within the vicinity of the bookcase that was displayed on the map. If you require further assistance, contact a librarian.
In some cases, your item may not be indexed. Therefore, the following message appears advising, Sorry, we could not locate the resource in the library. Please ask your librarian for assistance. Click OK.
Note: In the event there is no book jacket available for a specific title, the image space will be blank or a generic book jacket will be in its place. The generic book jacket contains only the title. The item on the shelf will not look like the image shown on the screen. An example of a generic book jacket is shown below.
