Save Searches

Do you want to save your search for future reference?  The Save Search option on the Titles search page gives you this opportunity.  This option is especially handy if you perform lots of research or you want to be informed as soon as a specific title is added to your library collection.

When you click Save Search, and you have not logged on to your account, a Log On dialog box prompts for your credentials. Type your Library ID/PIN or User Name/Password credentials.  If you forgot your credentials or for more information on how to access your account, see Log On.  If you do not have an account, register for a temporary library card or see your librarian to set one up. Once logged on, a dialog box displays with the highlighted search term automatically pre-populated.  For example, if you performed a search on cancer and wanted to save this search, the dialog box would display as shown below.

To keep the pre-populated name as is, click the plus sign.  If you would like to rename the search, type the new search name over the highlighted search term in the field box.  You are allotted up to approximately 75 characters for your search name title.  An example of why you might rename the search;  you performed a broad search and then narrowed down your results and now wish to save a defined name.  For example, someone recommended books you should read by a specific author, however, you do not recall the name.  You then perform a search and narrow down your results by using facets.  Once you have typed a name for your search, click the plus sign to save your search.  A message box displays briefly advising, Your search has been saved.

To view your saved search, click the My Saved Searches drawer, located on the lower-middle section from the Titles or Browse Genre page.  In the left column, you will find the name entered in the Save Search field box.  In the middle column, you will find Search followed by the name of your term used to perform the search, how your search was sorted, and any facets that were used.  If letters appear cut off, place your mouse over the heading.  The heading starts to scroll so you can view its entirety.  In the right column, date information displays when your search was saved.  In addition, you can re-activate your search, remove all or selected saved searches, and subscribe to a News Feed.

There is no limit as to how many saved searches you can save.  The searches will display in alphabetical order.  Any new searches added to the My Saved Searches drawer will be automatically sorted with the existing list of saved searches.  An example of My Saved Searches is shown below.
